A Dream About the Messiah

AA

Question

Hello! Last Friday night, I dreamed about the Messiah. In the dream, I saw the Messiah clearly, and there was great excitement. I remember that many people were around me, and the great excitement that seized everyone when they saw him—it was wonderful. I recall the name I understood from my dream was Menachem Mendel Schneerson. I am somewhat afraid: does this indicate the coming of the Messiah, or does it reflect my intense desire that the Messiah will come and Hashem will be revealed in the world and help His people? I would appreciate your prompt answer. Sincerely, Reut.

Answer

To the questioner, It is difficult to determine what the dream indicates—since it is possible the dream arises from what a person thinks and feels during the day (see Shaarei Tziyun, siman 232, se’if aleph). In any event, it is brought in the pamphlet "Dreams and Their Interpretations" that almost invariably, seeing sages in a dream signifies an ascent to a higher spiritual level; therefore, your dream should be regarded as a good sign for you. One should continue to pray, as every Jew does, for the coming of the Messiah, and there is no need to fear his arrival. When he comes, it will signal that the service of Israel throughout all generations has reached its conclusion, and the revealed miracles of the days of the Messiah will begin, as explained by the prophets. With blessing, The Hidabroot Team
