What Are the Mountains of Darkness and Do They Exist?
Question
I recently heard about the concept of the Mountains of Darkness, said to be the dwelling place of the Nephilim or demons or according to various versions... I would like to know what they are, where they are located, and mainly if there is a source for this in the Torah and where it is written. Thank you.

A good question; the Mountains of Darkness are mentioned by Chazal in several contexts, and the Tanakh refers to the 'Mountains of Neshef' in the book of Jeremiah, which according to commentators, are the Mountains of Darkness. Many details are scattered in various books regarding the Mountains of Darkness. According to the Gemara in Tractate Tamid, they are located in Africa. Gehenna (hell) lies behind them.
