Should a woman whose husband is out of town delay her immersion?

Hello, honored rabbi. I am supposed to immerse on Wednesday night, but my husband is abroad until Thursday morning. May the immersion be delayed until Thursday night? Is it true that I am supposed to sleep with a knife under my pillow on Wednesday night? Thank you very much.

Hello,
It is preferable to delay the immersion until Thursday night. In any case, if there is some need to immerse specifically on Wednesday night, one should place a knife(could use a plastic knife) under the pillow or spread over oneself a garment belonging to one’s husband (Halichot Olam, vol. 5, p. 220).
