Is it halachically permitted for Sephardim to eat fish with dairy?

AA

Question

I saw a salmon and cream sandwich in one of the food chains with Beit Yosef kashrut. I wanted to know the correct halacha regarding milk and fish for Sephardim. I would appreciate a quick answer.

Thank you.

Answer

Hello, It is also permitted for Sephardim to eat salmon with cream. Sources: Although Sephardim are accustomed not to eat fish with milk, they may be lenient and eat fish with butter; see Responsa Yechaveh Daat, vol. 6 (siman 48), Responsa Yabia Omer, vol. 10 (pp. 335-336), and Halichot Olam, vol. 7 (p. 20), and they may also eat fish with cream (Shulchan HaTahor, end of siman 173).

With blessing, Hillel Meirs
