A Dream of Tears of Blood

Halacha guidance on troubling dreams

AA

Question

Shalom, honored rabbi. I had two really frightening dreams, and I do not understand why, but I feel that there is some message behind them. I should note that I dreamed both of them in the same night.

1. My grandmother, who passed away two months earlier, appeared in my dream. She looked frightening and angry, her eyes were very prominent and rolled in opposite directions.

2. I am a newly married woman (two months). A week ago I dreamed that my husband was crying, and instead of tears, blood came out of his eyes. He wiped them in the dream and gave me a feeling that I did not believe in - that everything is fine. I would be glad to receive an answer. These dreams have been with me all day.

Thank you very much.

Answer

Shalom and blessings.

Regarding the first dream, it is advisable to do a good deed, or a certain study, for the benefit of your grandmother's soul.

Regarding the second dream, usually blood from the body in a dream is an indication of forgiveness of sins. However, I still recommend that the next time you are in the synagogue, you say this prayer at the time when the kohanim bless with the Priestly Blessing:

In any case, set aside your worry. Rejoice with your husband as commanded by the Torah, and gladden the wife he has taken.

Good luck - Menashe Yisrael
