Is It Permitted to Say Parashat HaKetoret at Night?

AA

Question

Hello, honored rabbi,

Recently I ordered a book and received as a gift a booklet of Parashat HaKetoret from Rabbi Binyahu Shmueli. My question is: May one read from the booklet at all hours of the day, and also at night?

Thank you very much

Answer

Hello,

It is permitted to recite Parashat HaKetoret at all hours of the day, but it should not be recited at night.

Sources: The Rema wrote (siman 132, seif 2) that one should recite Pittum HaKetoret in the evening and in the morning after prayer. However, the Magen Avraham (seif katan 3) cited the Arizal as saying that it should not be recited in the evening, and wrote that perhaps the Rema's intent in writing evening is after Minchah prayer or before it. The Mishnah Berurah also wrote (seif katan 13) that the Rema's intent is after Minchah prayer or before it, because the incense was not offered at night.

With blessings,

Hillel Meirs
