Is It Permitted to Recite a Blessing While Barefoot?
Question
Hello, is it permitted to recite blessings while we are barefoot (Asher Yatzar, blessings over enjoyment, Havdalah, morning blessings while seated)?
Thank you
Answer
Hello,
1. One should not pray barefoot (see Shulchan Aruch, Orach Chaim 91:5, and Mishnah Berurah there).
2. It is not proper to recite Birkat HaMazon and the blessing of Me'ein Shalosh while barefoot (see Ohr L'Tzion, part 2, page 110, letter 3, and Halichot Shlomo, part 1, chapter 2, note 73).
3. All other blessings may be recited while barefoot (see also Mishnah Berurah, siman 38, seif katan 5).
With blessing,
