Saying Kaddish in the Middle of Pesukei DeZimra
Question
Hello,
During Shacharit, when there was no minyan for saying the Kaddish before Baruch She-amar, they began Baruch She-amar without a minyan. Some time later, in the middle of Pesukei DeZimra, the minyan was completed. Is it permitted to stop in the middle of Pesukei DeZimra, between sections, and say Kaddish?
I looked into the matter and noticed that the opinions differ.
The Chida permits it, the Arizal does not.
I would appreciate a clear halachic ruling, and I would also appreciate precise sources.
Answer
Hello,
It is true that the view of the Chida in his work Kesher Gadol (siman 7, letter 35) is that if there was no minyan before Pesukei DeZimra and Kaddish was not said, and in the middle of Pesukei DeZimra a minyan arrived, they may interrupt and say Kaddish. However, the view of most later authorities is that there is no permission to interrupt, as the Kaf HaChayim wrote (siman 53, letter 13) in the name of Responsa Penei Yehoshua (Part Orach Chayim, siman 5), Siddur Beit Oved (letter 13), and Shaarei Teshuva (siman 51, letter 3). See also Sefer Shaarei Halacha u-Minhag, Part Orach Chayim, Part 1 (end of siman 63). And see Responsa Yabia Omer, Part 7 (Part Orach Chayim, siman 10, letters 2 and 4), and Sefer Or LeTzion, Part 2 (chapter 45, section 1).
With blessings,
