Rising Before Dawn

AA

Question

Hello, Rabbi.

1. I get up early every day before dawn and wait until dawn in order to recite the morning blessings and the blessings over Torah study. Am I doing this properly, or may I recite them even before dawn?

2. If I get up before dawn, am I permitted to drink a hot beverage such as instant coffee, since it is not yet the time for prayer?

With blessings and thank you in advance, Rotem

Answer

Hello and blessings,

1. There is no need to wait for dawn, except for the blessing Hanoten la-sechvi binah, which should be said only at dawn.

2. Yes.

With blessings,

Binyamin Shmueli
