Is Shark Permitted to Eat?

AA

Question

Is a shark kosher, or is it forbidden to eat it?
And if it is kosher, then why don\'t people eat it?
Thank you very much

Answer

Hello,

As is well known, the Torah (Leviticus 11:9-12) permits eating only fish that have two signs of purity, namely fins and scales, and since a shark does not have scales - it is forbidden to eat.

With blessing,

Hillel Meirs
