What Does the Principle Mean in With the Devious You Act Deviously

AA

Question

Hello, Rabbi. What does the principle mean in with the devious you act deviously? What is permitted and what is forbidden, and how is this between one person and another? I would like to understand the principle and receive an honest answer, not a prettified one, please. With blessings.

Answer

Hello and blessings

Perhaps you mean this verse in Psalms, chapter 18

(26) With the pious You act piously; with the blameless man You act blamelessly:
(27) With the pure You act purely, and with the crooked You act perversely:

There, the intention is to the Creator of the world, Who conducts Himself with a person measure for measure.

With blessings,

Benjamin Shmueli
