What does "bechazkat basari" mean?
Question
In an oven that was used to roast chicken, another dish that is itself pareve was then prepared in it. After eating from this pareve dish, which is considered "bechazkat basari," may I eat a dairy food, since in practice I did not actually eat anything meaty...?
Answer
Hello and blessings,
It is permitted.
Those of Ashkenaz are strict not to eat actual milk together with something that is bechazkat basari. But one after the other is permitted even for Ashkenazim; it is permitted.
It should be noted that even among Ashkenazim, some are lenient regarding a meat oven, saying that foods baked in it do not have the status of bechazkat basari and that they are only strict about this in the case of a pot.
With blessings,
