Intimate Relations Under the Open Sky

AA

Question

Is it permitted to engage in marital relations in a remote place outside a settlement, in an area known that no people pass through, such as in nature? And does there need to be a ceiling overhead, at least something like trees? Thank you

Answer

Greetings,

It is forbidden to engage in relations in such places, even if no people pass through there, as the Shulchan Aruch, Even HaEzer (siman 25, seif 4) writes: one may not have relations in marketplaces, on streets, in gardens, or in orchards, only in a dwelling, so that it should not appear as immorality and so that they should not accustom themselves to immorality. End of citation.

With blessings,

Hillel Meirs
