Does Israel Have No Angelic Prince?

AA

Question

In Rabbi Yeshaya Wind’s lecture on the Hidabroot website, Power of Prayer, he said that all the nations have an angel or prince who is responsible for them and represents them before the Creator of the world, whereas Israel has no appointed prince and instead turns directly to Hashem. Is the angel Michael not the angel appointed over the people of Israel? Michael the High Priest, prince and guardian of Israel. Thank you, honored rabbi.

Answer

Shalom u-vrachah!

A good question. Ramban likewise answered on Parashat Acharei Mot: And do not object to me from the verse Michael your prince, for he is a ministering prince to seek mercy for Israel, not a prince of kingship and rule.

Success and blessing,

Yaakov Moshe
