Prayer and Blessings
Rabbi Ovadia Yosef, of blessed memory, on the blessing recited over Bamba
Question
I saw that a question was published on the website regarding the blessing recited over Bamba, and the responding rabbi wrote that one should recite Shehakol over Bamba, and wrote that this is according to Maran Rabbi Ovadia and his son, the Rishon LeTzion.
However, I saw a shiur by the Rishon LeTzion in which he strongly attacks this and says that one must recite HaAdamah!!! (You can go on YouTube and see it) And I also saw in one of his books that he related that he was with his father (Maran) and told him the reason (the reason being that the corn/peanuts are produced especially for Bamba), and Rabbi Ovadia recited HaAdamah and ate!!
P.S. I also read the answer in the book She'elot U-Teshuvot HaRishon LeTzion, and from there it seems that one should recite HaAdamah and not Shehakol..
(That is how it seems to me; I would appreciate an answer..)
Answer
Greetings,
That is correct; however, in the approbation of Rabbi Ovadia Yosef, of blessed memory, to the book Halacha Berura, part 10, it appears that his final view is that one should recite Shehakol.
With blessings,
Hillel Meirs
