Is It Permitted to Visit a Cemetery on the Eve of Rosh Chodesh?
Question
With your permission,
I would like to ask
Is it possible to visit the cemetery on the eve of Rosh Chodesh?
Thank you in advance
Answer
Shalom rav,
It is permitted to visit the cemetery on the eve of Rosh Chodesh, and it is even considered an especially good and distinguished day to go there. As the Arizal wrote in Shaar HaYichudim (page 5), on Shabbat, Yom Tov, and Rosh Chodesh, the souls ascend to Gan Eden and are not standing there in their graves, and one cannot obtain anything from a person who is not there. The other days are also good, but the best and most distinguished are the eve of Rosh Chodesh and the 15th of the month.
Good tidings,
Hillel Meirs
