If one has no wine for Kiddush, what should Kiddush be made on?

I am on vacation abroad, and I have no way to obtain kosher wine. I do have the option of making Kiddush on bread or beer. What is preferable? A quick answer would help me very much...

Hello,
At night, Kiddush should be made on bread. During the day, it is better to make Kiddush on beer. And when you make Kiddush on bread, you should place your hands on it until Kiddush is completed.
