Meat Meal Before Yom Kippur

May One Eat Meat at the Final Meal Before Yom Kippur?

AA

Question

Is it permitted to eat a meat meal for the final meal before the fast of Yom Kippur?

Thank you very much

Answer

Hello,

It is customary to eat a meat meal on the eve of Yom Kippur. One should specifically eat poultry, since it is easier to digest.

Sources: See Shulchan Aruch, Orach Chaim (siman 608, seif 4), Magen Avraham (sif katan 7), Machatzit HaShekel there, and Mishnah Berurah (sif katan 16).

A good final sealing,

Hillel Meirs
