Separating Challah: What to Do with the Set-Aside Portion?
Question
My question is this: after preparing the dough and allowing it to rise, we take a piece from the dough and wrap it in foil. We recite the blessing; what is the next step? Should it be thrown in the trash? Or should it be put in the oven to bake?

The best practice is to burn the piece of challah.
If that is not possible, it should be placed in two bags and can then be discarded in the trash.
