Reciting the Prayer of "Nishmat Kol Chai" Regularly

AA

Question

BS"D. Hello, esteemed Rabbi.

My question is whether it is good to say "Nishmat Kol Chai" every day, as I heard an opinion that says "Nishmat Kol Chai" is something great and it is desirable to say it when a person experiences a miracle for which they want to express gratitude, or a woman 40 days before giving birth, and not every day since "Nishmat Kol Chai" is a unique and great thing. Therefore, I would like to know whether it is good or not to say the prayer "Nishmat Kol Chai" every day.

Thank you, Reut.

Answer

Shalom and blessings,

Indeed, it is not preferred to say "Nishmat Kol Chai" every day; one should reserve this tremendous praise for times when the soul feels that it wants to praise Hashem. It is clear that the soul is more moved by a praise recited from time to time rather than a text that is said regularly. For this reason, there were even some sages of Israel who opposed reciting the Haggadah of Pesach on the Shabbat before Pesach, as is customary in many communities, because by reciting it early, one loses a bit of the emotion in saying the Haggadah on the night of the Seder.

There is a proven segulah (spiritual remedy) that if a person is in distress and accepts upon themselves that when they are rescued they will say the praise "Nishmat Kol Chai", with Hashem's help they will emerge from distress to relief. At the Western Wall, "Nishmat Kol Chai" is recited every night in a large public gathering exactly at 12 midnight, next to the partition of the women’s section, where people come who have accepted upon themselves to say the prayer, and with Hashem’s help they have been rescued.

Wishing success - Menashe Israel
