Can Used Utensils Still Be Immersed?

AA

Question

Hello, Rabbi,

If there are utensils that were used without immersion, and now we want to immerse them, is that possible? Some utensils have grease stuck to them; can that interfere with the immersion?

Thank you very much!

Answer

Hello,

Even if the utensils have been used, there is still an obligation to immerse them (if they were manufactured by a factory owned by non-Jews). However, before immersing them, they must be cleaned properly as much as possible, and whatever cannot be removed is not considered a barrier to immersion.

With blessings,

Hillel Meirs
