What Is the Origin of the Peoples of East Asia?

AA

Question

Shalom, Rabbi, according to the Torah, what is the origin of the peoples of East Asia (Chinese, Japanese, Koreans, etc.), and are they mentioned anywhere?

Answer

Shalom and blessings,

Only Noah and his family survived in the ark. Noah's three sons - Shem, Ham, and Japheth - had wives. They established families after the Flood, founded cities, and dispersed to different lands after the destruction of the Tower of Babel.

From the tribe of Shem was born our father Abraham, from whom the people of Israel began, as well as the Ishmaelites.

The tribe of Ham mostly migrated to the warm countries - the Egyptians and the Africans - but part of it migrated to Asia, and they are the Asians.

The tribe of Japheth migrated to the countries of Europe, from whom the Greeks and the Romans descended.

With blessings,

Daniel Bels
