Laws of Tachanun

AA

Question

Shalom, honored rabbis on the site. My question is about Tachanun. On the day when a brit milah was held in the synagogue in the morning, during Mincha, when the mohel, the sandak, and the father of the baby are not in the synagogue, and this is not the only synagogue in the settlement, may the worshippers say Tachanun? Please, if possible, cite different opinions as well as sources for the halacha on this matter. Note: the congregation is from Sephardic communities, most of them from Morocco.

Answer

Shalom u-vrachah

a. When the brit milah was held in the morning, Tachanun is recited in the Mincha prayer, even when the participants in the brit are present in the synagogue during Mincha.

b. The participants in the brit themselves are exempt from Tachanun, even during Mincha, and it is preferable that they leave the synagogue during the recitation of the supplications.

c. A brit milah held after the Mincha prayer exempts those present from reciting Tachanun in Mincha.
