A Soul from the World of Atzilut
Question
Shalom, Rabbi. I have two questions and would be very glad if Your Honor could answer:
1. What does it mean, regarding a certain person’s way of life, if his soul is from the World of Atzilut? Does he need to guard himself more? Can he cause greater harm through his actions, and so forth?
2. In one of the mussar lessons on the Zohar, it was said that only the souls of the righteous are from the World of Atzilut, and that there is a special safeguard over them to prevent them from sin. Is this correct? I would be glad if you could elaborate and expand on this topic, even from relevant sources regarding both questions.
Best wishes.
Answer
Shalom.
Certainly, a person whose soul-root is from Atzilut must be more careful in his actions, as the Arizal revealed in Shaar HaGilgulim, introduction 6: "You must know that according to the level of the place of a person’s soul, so is the strength and severity of the damage of his sin; for one who has a nefesh from Malchut of Atzilut, his damage rises there, and he damages the portion of his root that is there, and in this way with the other aspects."
The souls of the righteous [whose root is from Atzilut, and are called angels], who have already completed themselves in a previous reincarnation and returned to the world for a special reason for the needs of the generation or for the completion of an outstanding level, and the like, are indeed guaranteed not to come to sin, as our teacher the Arizal explained.
