Car Keys on Shabbat
Question
Hello, we want to go to synagogue on Friday night to a distant synagogue, and travel there by car before Shabbat begins. Is there a problem with returning home with the car key (with remote)? Before Shabbat ends, will it be permitted to take the car key in order to return with the car when Shabbat ends, or is that considered preparing on Shabbat for a weekday? Note: we will not be able to leave the keys at the synagogue.

If the keyring also contains the house keys, you may be lenient, both on Friday and on Shabbat afternoon, to take the key for locking the house door and leave the key in your pocket.
Ideally, if the remote is not needed, it is proper to remove the remote from the keyring.
