What Are the Five Grains?

AA

Question

What are the five grains, and what halachic laws are they connected to?

Answer

Hello and blessings

The five grains are wheat, barley, spelt, rye, and oats. These are the grains that are subject to challah, and for which one recites hamotzi, mezonot, and Birkat Hamazon. They are forbidden as chametz on Pesach, and matzah can be made from them. All other grains are not included in any of the above.
