Is eating an etrog a segulah for an easy childbirth?
Question
Hello, Rabbi.
A friend of mine who is also pregnant gave me half of an etrog over which a blessing had been recited on Sukkot. She gave me half of hers and kept half for herself. Is this a segulah for an easy childbirth, and is it all right to eat it?
Thank you.
Answer
Hello,
In the book Chazon Ovadia, Sukkot (pages 489-490), this segulah is mentioned, but his view is that it may be done only after the festival of Sukkot, and not during Sukkot itself, since the etrog was set aside for its mitzvah. It follows that what you are doing is completely fine.
May you be blessed with good news,
Hillel Meirs
