Eating Meat on the Night Following Tisha B'Av

AA

Question

Is it permissible to eat meat on the night following Tisha B'Av this year (postponed)?

Thank you

Answer

Greetings,

According to Ashkenazi custom, one may not eat meat on the night of the postponed Tisha B'Av for the entire duration of the night following the fast, but in the morning it is permitted immediately (Rema, Orach Chaim 559:2).

According to the Sephardi custom, it is permitted to eat meat immediately after the fast ends (see Hazon Ovadia, Four Fast Days, pages 313-315, s.v. On the night of the postponed Tisha B'Av, Or L'Tzion, Part 3, Chapter 29, Section 26, and Responsa Divrei David, Part 1, Orach Chaim 32).

Best regards,
