Are Half-Siblings on the Father’s Side Considered Full Siblings?
Question
I am married for the second time. My husband has a child from a previous marriage, and, thank G-d, the two of us together have a son and a daughter.
My question is whether my husband’s son is considered a brother to our children according to halacha.
And is there any distinction according to the Torah?
Are they brothers in every respect even though they share only one parent?
And if there is any distinction?
Answer
Hello,
Half-siblings who share the same father, as in your case, are considered full siblings in every respect.
