Prayer for Livelihood
Question
In the Shemoneh Esreh, after Shema Koleinu and before Ulefanekha Malkeinu, there is a prayer for livelihood, and it says there, in the merit of Your great Name, dikranusa. What is the meaning of the word dikranusa? Am I supposed to read the word that way, or do I need to say something else? Also, in the Shemoneh Esreh, after the blessing of Hashiveinu Avinu LeToratekha, there is an additional prayer that I customarily recite: Yehi ratzon milefanekha Elokeinu vElokei avoteinu shetachter chatirah mitachat kise kevodekha lehachzir biteshuvah sheleimah lefanekha lechol posh'ei amekha Beit Yisrael, uvechlalam tachzireni li (p.b.p.). That is, I understand that this refers to Ploni ben Ploni. Am I supposed to say my name and my father's name, that is, Ofer ben Rachamim? Am I supposed to include my father's family name, that is, Ofer ben Rachamim Navchar? Or am I supposed to say something else altogether?
Answer
Greetings and blessings
The holy Name dikranusa is one of the sacred Names of the Creator of the world, and this Name is auspicious for livelihood, and one does not pronounce the Name, but thinks it only in one’s mind.
One says your name and your mother’s name, and there is no need to mention the family name.
With blessings - Binyamin Shmueli
