Dreams About Righteous Individuals

AA

Question

How should one interpret dreams about great tzaddikim (righteous individuals) such as the Baba Sali and Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai, zt"l, as well as when hearing the letters Y, K, V, K in a specific combination (various dreams)? I would like you to know that I am strengthening myself and, with Hashem's help, that my entire family will return to full repentance, Amen.

Answer

Shalom,

The Sages provided a guideline regarding these things, as stated in the Talmud (Berachot 57b): "One who sees a Rabbi in a dream should expect wisdom; one who sees Rabbi Elazar ben Azariah should expect wealth; one who sees Rabbi Yishmael ben Elisha [who was one of the martyrs] should be concerned about misfortune.

One who sees Ben Azzai in a dream should expect piety; one who sees Ben Zoma should expect wisdom..." From their words, it seems that when one sees the figure of a sage in a dream, it serves as an opportunity to attain the merit of that Tzaddik if we succeed in improving our deeds and connecting, even in a small way, to the ways of the righteous.

Therefore, if you are fortunate to see the figures of Tzaddikim as those you mentioned, blessed is your portion, and may Hashem help that if you strive to walk in their ways, you will merit to receive from what they have received.

Best of luck - Menashe Yisrael
