Dream About Killing a Snake

AA

Question

I dreamed that a snake entered the house and tried to bite the children, and then I came and killed it. What does that mean?

Thank you

Answer

Hello,

Most dreams in our times do not have significance, and therefore, although it is said in the tractate Berakhot (57a) that one who sees a snake in a dream has his livelihood assured, if it bites him, his livelihood has been taken from him (meaning the snake). There is no need to be worried about this.

If you still wish to dispel any concern, you can say a Hatavat halom (a ceremony for correcting a dream) before three people, preferably those you love, or you can say at the time of the Birkat kohanim (the priestly blessing), "Master of the Universe, I am Yours, and my dreams are Yours," etc.

Best wishes,
