Question

Is it necessary to separate six hours between fish and dairy?

Thank you very much for the answer

Answer

Hello,

According to the custom of Sephardim who do not eat fish and dairy together, it is permitted to eat them one after the other in the same meal. Nevertheless, if you touch them with your hands, it is advisable to wash your hands. It is also proper to rinse your mouth with some food and wash it down with a drink (see Responsa Yechave Da'at Vol. 6, Siman 48, note 1, and the Book of Clear Law, Siman 192, Section 13).

According to the custom of most Ashkenazim, it is permitted to eat fish and dairy together.

Best regards,

Hillel Meiris
