Choosing a Name for a Baby Girl - Adel, Daniel, and Libby

AA

Question

Greetings,
In praise and gratitude to Hashem, I had a daughter a week and a half ago after two sons (named Hillel and Rafael). My husband and I are having difficulty choosing a name. My husband wants only Adel (after his great-grandmother). I appreciate the Jewish context, but I am less connected to the popularity of the name. After I gave up names I wanted, such as Yiskah and Amalia, which were outright rejected, I like the names Daniel and Libby. Therefore, we are at a loss and struggling to choose between the three - Adel, Daniel, or Libby.
Does the Rabbi have any advice or direction?
Thank you very much and best wishes

Answer

Greetings,

The name Adel is good for a girl.

Daniel is a boy's name and is not suitable for a girl at all (see Names in the Land, page 188, by Rabbi Chaim Kanievsky, shlit"a).

The name Libby is fine, but there are better and more successful names than it.

See a partial list of recommended names https://www.hidabroot.org/question/254980

We would be happy to help you further Bli Neder.

With best wishes for a Mazal Tov and much joy,

Hillel Meirs
