Shortened Morning Prayer for Beginners

AA

Question

I want to start praying Shacharit (the morning prayer) at home. However, it turns out that this prayer is really, really long (several dozen pages in the siddur). Is there an accepted shortened version for this prayer? I would appreciate it if you could tell me from which line to which line I should read. Thank you, Amit

Answer

Hello and blessings,

To begin praying the morning prayer (Shacharit), you should recite the following sections. Afterward, you can add more and more portions of the prayer until you pray the entire prayer:

1. The Morning Blessings and the Blessings of the Torah.

2. Baruch She'amar.

3. Ashrei Yoshei Veitecha.

4. Yishtabach.

5. The Blessings of Kriyat Shema and Kriyat Shema.

6. The Amidah prayer.

I do not know which siddur you are using, so I cannot indicate the page numbers in your siddur.

May your prayer be accepted with favor,
