Question

Is it permissible to say the morning blessings and the blessings of Torah in the afternoon? Thank you very much for your help!!

Answer

Greetings,

One can recite the blessings until sunset (see Shut Yabia Omer Vol. 4, Siman 4, and Halacha Brura Siman 46, Section 19), and the blessings of Torah can be said even after that.

However, if you have already prayed Shacharit and only skipped the morning blessings, you should not say Elokai Neshamah, as its conclusion, which refers to one who restores souls to the dead bodies, has already been fulfilled with the Mechaye Meitim blessing in the Amidah (the same applies if you have already prayed the Amidah of Minchah). Additionally, no one should recite the blessings of Torah, since they have fulfilled their obligation in the Ahavat Olam blessing (see Shut Yabia Omer Vol. 4, Siman 5. A Sephardic woman may recite the blessings of Torah if she customarily recites Ahavat Olam without Shem and Malchut, according to the opinion of Rav Ovadia Yosef zt"l in Shut Yabia Omer Vol. 8, Part Orach Chaim Siman 8).

Best regards,

Hillel Meirs
