Is it Permissible to Read the Tikkun Haklali on Tisha B'Av?

AA

Question

Hello, esteemed rabbi,

1. Every morning after putting on tefillin, I read the General Remedy and the beginning of the Tikkun of the Ari.

2. Additionally, I try to read *Shir Hashirim* for 40 consecutive days every evening. Am I prohibited from reading them on Tisha B'Av?

Answer

Greetings,

1. Ideally, one should not read Tehillim on Tisha B'Av, but those who are lenient have something to rely on (Yalkut Yosef, Siman Tishah, Seif 19; and see Chazon Ovadiah, Four Fast Days, page 262, s.v. Tehillim). Therefore, it is preferable not to read the Tikkun Haklali on Tisha B'Av.

2. Shir Hashirim should not be read on Tisha B'Av, and you can complete it after Tisha B'Av (see Ashrei Ha'ish, Part 3, page 163, Seif 22).

Best regards,

Hillel Meirs.
