"Chezkat Halavi"

AA

Question

With G-d's help, hello esteemed Rabbi, I would like to understand the concept of Chezkat Halavi? And do we need to wait 6 hours between eating meat and a cake, for example, that was baked with chocolate which is Bechezkat Halavi?

Answer

Shalom and blessings,

For Sephardim, the concept of "Chezkat Halavi" (cooked with dairy utensils) has no significance.

Ashkenazim need to be careful not to eat something that is in Chezkat Halavi together with meat, however, it is permissible to eat meat and immediately afterwards something that is in Chezkat Halavi, even for Ashkenazim, and there is no need to wait at all.

Best regards - Benjamin Shmueli
