Washing Hands Without a Vessel

AA

Question

I wanted to know if it is mandatory to use a vessel for washing hands or if one can simply turn on the water and wash alternately right/left three times with the blessing.

Answer

Hello and blessings,

For washing hands before eating, it is required to use a vessel, which can be a cup or similar. This applies as well in the morning; one must specifically wash hands from a vessel. In all other instances of washing, one may be lenient and wash hands directly from the faucet without a vessel.

With blessings,

Benjamin Shmuali
