Spaghetti Cooked in a Meat Pot and Eaten with Cheese
Question
I cooked spaghetti in a meat pot, can I eat the spaghetti with cheese, or is it considered meat?
Answer
Shalom u'vracha
For Sephardim, it is permitted to do so initially in any case. It is even permissible to cook spaghetti in a meat pot with the intention of eating it with dairy, as posited by Rabbi Ovadiah Yosef. However, there are those who are stringent and advise not to cook spaghetti in a meat pot that has not been cleaned for 24 hours if the intention is to eat it with cheese.
For Ashkenazim, one may eat it together with dairy only if 24 hours have passed since the last meat cooking.
