Which fasts are obligatory?
Question
Which fasts are men exempt from and which are women exempt from, and is the fast of the 17th of Tammuz obligatory or not?
Answer
Shalom u'voracha
All fasts are obligatory for all genders equally.
A pregnant or nursing woman is exempt from most fasts, except for Yom Kippur and the fast of Tisha B'Av, which is not postponed.
