Rosh Hashanah Is a Festival: Celebrating Judgment, Responsibility, and Real Life
Rabbi Yitzchak Berkovits
Rosh Hashanah is both solemn and joyful: a day of judgment and a Yom Tov. Being judged means being taken seriously as a human being, trusted with responsibility, and given the dignity to earn what we receive. Rosh Hashanah is the birthday of humanity and the celebration of meaningful life, work, and accountability, the very purpose for which we were created.
