Report: U.S. Giving Israel One Week to End Iran War
Regional diplomatic source says Washington wants the campaign concluded quickly as Netanyahu signals the outcome in Iran may take significantly longer

A regional diplomatic source told Israel Hayom on Thursday that the United States has given Israel one week to conclude the war with Iran, as Washington seeks to bring the conflict to a rapid end despite Israel’s ongoing military campaign.
According to the source, U.S. officials are increasingly concerned that a prolonged war could destabilize the wider Middle East and push global oil prices sharply higher. Washington believes Israel has already achieved significant military gains against Iran and fears that extending the conflict could trigger a broader regional escalation involving additional countries or Iranian proxy forces. For that reason, the source said, the United States wants to bring the campaign to a relatively quick conclusion.
The source added that Iran’s regime is unlikely to collapse in the near term. According to the assessment, such an outcome would likely require either a ground invasion by foreign forces or renewed internal protests across Iran, neither of which appears likely in the immediate future.
The reported timeline emerged as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held his first press conference tonight since the start of Operation “Roaring Lion,” outlining Israel’s objectives in the campaign against Iran.
“We are crushing the nuclear infrastructure, the missile factories, and the repression apparatus,” Netanyahu said, describing the ongoing strikes targeting key components of Iran’s weapons programs.
The prime minister also indicated that the campaign could produce further developments. “There will be more surprises, but I cannot share them,” he said.
Addressing the future of Iran’s leadership, Netanyahu acknowledged that the outcome inside the country remains uncertain. “It is not certain that the regime will fall. Ultimately it is in the hands of the Iranian people,” he said.
Netanyahu also directed a message to the Iranian public, suggesting Israel’s actions are intended to weaken the regime while creating conditions for possible internal change. “The moment when you will be able to come out to freedom is getting closer,” he said. “We stand with you and help you, but in the end it depends on you.”
The prime minister criticized Iran’s current leadership, describing Mojtaba Khamenei, who Netanyahu said was appointed supreme leader after the killing of his father, as lacking independent authority. “Mojtaba Khamenei, who was appointed supreme leader after his father’s killing, is a puppet of the Revolutionary Guards,” Netanyahu said.
The prime minister also suggested the war could reshape the region’s political landscape. “We are weaving new alliances in the region that only weeks ago would have seemed unimaginable,” Netanyahu said, adding that Israel’s strikes continue to target Iran’s nuclear and missile capabilities.
The reported U.S. timeline comes after President Donald Trump repeatedly suggested this week that America has completed its objectives in the war. Speaking Wednesday at Joint Base Andrews, Trump said Iran had been “absolutely decimated” and claimed there was “practically nothing left to target,” adding that the conflict could end soon.
Despite the reported timeline, Netanyahu emphasized the close partnership between Washington and Jerusalem during the campaign. “The relationship between us is 100 times stronger than between any American president and an Israeli prime minister,” he said.
