Uriya Sarusi, 48, a resident of Har Bracha and father of eight, is the reservist who drowned earlier today (Tuesday) in the Jordan River. The father jumped into the water to try to save one of his children, a 10-year-old, who was swept by the current and got into distress. The child was rescued by a civilian who also jumped into the water to help the two.

The Shomron Regional Council said that Sarusi volunteered for reserve duty to help develop technological solutions to save soldiers' lives. Today he was on leave from service and was hiking with his son. Upon receiving the devastating news, professional teams from the Shomron Council and the community of Har Bracha began supporting his family and friends in the town.

Yossi Dagan, head of the Shomron Regional Council, eulogized him: \"We embrace the Sarusi family and the Har Bracha community in this difficult hour. Uriya was a warrior at heart, both in the reserves and in his civilian life, a man of kindness, and his final act of heroism—when he jumped without hesitation into the river to save his son—is a distilled testament to who he was: a person of self-sacrifice, love, and responsibility\".

\"The Shomron lost a dear man today, a pillar of his family and a fighter who always showed up when called. We embrace the family. The council team is accompanying the community and will accompany the family with whatever is required. May his memory be a blessing\".
