A Jewish family in London was attacked Tuesday when an assailant threatened to kill them, according to reports. The victim was identified as the son of the Biala Beit Shemesh Rebbe, who was with his wife and infant at the time.

The incident comes in the midst of a surge in antisemitic attacks across Europe in recent weeks, including violence targeting Jewish institutions in Belgium, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom. The latest case adds to growing concern within Jewish communities as tensions linked to the ongoing war with Iran continue to shape the security environment.

According to the report, the family had traveled outside the Charedi neighborhood to an area described as mostly Muslim, located about a half-hour drive away. An attacker approached them, spat at the man, shouted insults, and issued threats, including “I will murder you.”

As the situation escalated, the man’s wife entered a nearby store and called police. The shopkeeper then intervened, confronting the attacker and telling him, “Get out of here, don’t do your things here,” before forcing him away from the scene.

The attacker left the area but continued shouting threats against Jews as he walked away, according to the report. The family did not wait for police to arrive and instead left by taxi.

After returning home, the family filed a complaint with police. Officers later arrived at the residence to take testimony and said they were treating the case seriously, according to the report. Police are expected to review security camera footage from the area in an effort to identify the suspect.

Members of the Charedi community praised the police response and expressed hope that the attacker would be located and brought to justice.

The incident follows a series of recent attacks across Europe targeting Jewish communities. In Antwerp, Jews were assaulted, while in Liège an explosion was reported outside a synagogue. In the Netherlands, there have been incidents involving a blast near a Jewish school and attempted arson attacks on synagogues. In London, four ambulances belonging to a Charedi emergency organization were set on fire in a separate case.

Authorities across several countries have increased security around Jewish institutions in response to the incidents, as investigations continue into whether some of the attacks may be linked or part of a broader pattern. The London case remains under investigation as police work to identify the suspect.
