Sgt. Moshe Yitzchak HaKohen Katz, 22, Killed by Hezbollah Rocket Fire in Southern Lebanon

Three other soldiers were moderately wounded, including a lieutenant colonel from the Yahalom unit. Katz, a ChabadHasid who lived in New Haven, Connecticut, made aliyah to enlist.

It was cleared for publication this morning (Sunday) that Sgt. Moshe Yitzchak HaKohen Katz (22), HY"D, a soldier in Battalion 890 of the Paratroopers, was killed Friday night in southern Lebanon. According to the IDF, in the incident, three other soldiers were moderately wounded, by Hezbollah rocket fire at the forces operating in southern Lebanon. One of the wounded in the incident is a lieutenant colonel from the Yahalom unit.

HaKohen Katz is the fifth IDF soldier killed since the start of the current maneuver in southern Lebanon, and the 930th since the outbreak of the \"Swords of Iron\" war. 

Katz was a ChabadHasid who lived in New Haven, Connecticut, USA, and made aliyah to Israel to enlist. He is survived by his parents, Devorah and Mendy, and four brothers and sisters. After his son fell, the father wrote a post on Facebook: \"This is an indescribable tragedy. I am sorry to inform you that my 22-year-old son, Moshe Yitzchak, a sergeant in the IDF, fell in battle in Lebanon. My eldest son, who had a zest for life and for jokes. His funeral will take place tomorrow in Israel. My heart is shattered and the wound is real. May he be a melitz yosher only for good things\".
