Spain to Reopen Embassy in Tehran; Israel's Gideon Sa'ar: "Hand in Hand with a Terror Regime"
Spain will reopen its embassy in Tehran, prompting a sharp rebuke from Israel's Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar, who accused Madrid of walking "hand in hand" with Iran's "terror regime." The move comes amid rising tensions after Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez condemned IDF operations in Lebanon and urged EU penalties against Israel.

Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar sharply criticized the move: "The Iranian terror regime is renewing the executions of its citizens, protesters, and political dissidents — and Spain is reopening its embassy in Tehran," Sa'ar wrote. He added: "Hand in hand. Shameless. A disgrace for the ages."
The sharp Israeli response comes amid broader tensions with Spain, which intensified after Spain's prime minister, Pedro Sánchez, spoke out last night against IDF activity in Lebanon: "Just today, Netanyahu is launching his heaviest attack on Lebanon since the offensive began. Their contempt for life and for international law is intolerable."
In his remarks, Sánchez called for broad international involvement and steps against Israel: "Let's be clear: Lebanon must be part of the ceasefire. The international community must condemn this new breach of international law. The European Union should suspend its association agreement with Israel. And there must be no impunity for these criminal acts."
