Is It Really Bad? A Powerful Story That Changes How You See Life

In a small village in Poland lived an elderly man and his son, who had a deep love for horses. The boy begged his father to buy him a strong and beautiful horse. The father agreed, and together they set out to find the perfect one.

After two days of searching, they found a magnificent horse, full of strength and grace. The father paid generously and bought it for his son. No one in the village was happier than the boy. He cared for the horse, fed it, and rode it across the wide green fields.

When Loss Strikes

One morning, the boy entered the stable and was horrified to discover that the horse had disappeared. It had run away.

The villagers gathered to comfort the old man. “What happened to you is truly terrible,” they said.

To their surprise, the old man smiled and replied, “How do you know whether it is good or bad?”

An Unexpected Turn

That very night, the villagers were awakened by the sounds of many wild horses. The lost horse had returned, leading a herd with it. With a gentle kick, it opened the stable door and entered, followed by the others.

The father and son quickly secured the stable and rejoiced in their unexpected gain.

Two days later, a cry was heard. The father rushed outside and saw his son lying on the ground beside one of the wild horses. The boy had tried to tame it, but the horse struck him and broke his leg.

The villagers returned, now filled with sympathy. “This is truly terrible,” they said.

The villagers laughed at what they thought was his foolishness.

A week later, soldiers arrived in the village and took all the young men to fight in a war between Poland and Hungary. The battle was fierce, and many of the village’s young men were killed.

The only one who remained behind was the old man’s son, who, because of his injury, had been left at home.
