As part of the event, Niagara Falls was illuminated in orange, as a memorial to Shiri Bibas and her children, Ariel and Kfir, HY"D.
The tribute happened during a trip in the United States that members of the Bibas family took together with the company "HaMetayel America". Upon arriving at the famous tourist site, the family received an extraordinary gesture from the local authorities. Mayor Jim Diodati decided to honor the memory of the family and ordered the permanent spotlights that illuminate the falls each night to be changed—from white to orange.
The event was recorded and broadcast throughout the town, emphasizing that the City of Niagara Falls wished to share in the remembrance of Shiri and her children. In remarks made during the event, it was stressed that this was a gesture of deep solidarity with the family’s pain and with the people of Israel as a whole.
The mayor noted the importance of the tribute and emphasized that the city’s residents wished to express support and share in the mourning. The remarks were delivered with the help of the local Chabad House and Rabbi Zalman Zaltzman, with the central message conveyed to local residents: "The residents of the city share in the sorrow of all the people of Israel and are thinking of us especially today—on Yom HaZikaron 2026."
Shiri Bibas and her two children have become a searing human symbol of the tragedy. Ariel Bibas was only 4 years old, and Kfir, the baby, was just 9 months old at the time of their murder.
