The announcement was made today (Wednesday) in a joint statement from the Israel Police spokesperson and the Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet), following an investigation led by the Judea and Samaria District's Central Unit in cooperation with the Shin Bet.
According to the investigation's findings, on March 21, 2026, Hasson was driving his pickup truck. When he noticed three Israelis traveling inside the village in a Ranger-type vehicle, he decided to harm them if they slowed down. The investigation found that shortly afterward Hasson began following the vehicle and deliberately rammed it. As a result of the impact, the Ranger slid into a wadi, and Yehuda, who was driving, was killed at the scene.
During the investigation, the primary suspect's son was also arrested on suspicion of involvement in the case. During a search of his home, a "Carlo" firearm and a hunting rifle were seized. According to security officials, an indictment is also expected to be filed against him in the coming days.
The filing of the indictment caps an investigation that at first was treated as a suspected fatal car accident but was later determined to be a nationalist terror attack. Daniel, Yehuda's brother, who was wounded in the attack, recounted from his hospital bed that the terrorist lay in wait by the roadside, rammed their vehicle, and pushed them toward the cliff. He said a Palestinian crowd also reached the scene and threw stones at the wounded—circumstances that strengthened the final conclusion that this was a deliberate attack intended to murder Jews because of their identity.
